LIVES, BUILDINGS, && ROBOTS (LiBRo)

Advisor:

Kaicong Wu

Student(s):

YANG Yiru

Studio introduction:

The studio explores the convergence of architecture, robotics, and artificial intelligence, asking how responsive systems and human–robot collaboration might reshape future modes of living. Students design interactive prototypes that merge physical computing with digital simulation, speculating on what it means for buildings themselves to behave like robots. Through iterative phases: Prototyping, Conceptualising, and Storytelling, participants develop site-specific projects that address real-world challenges such as aging populations, housing, and accessibility. Using tools like Grasshopper, Blender, Unity, and Arduino, the studio integrates design, technology, and narrative to produce spatial systems capable of adaptation and response. By linking material experimentation with speculative thinking, LiBRo cultivates both conceptual rigor and technical literacy, guiding students to articulate architectural futures in which intelligence, environment, and human life are deeply intertwined.
