The overall focus of the semester is the design of a large public building in Hong Kong, with a specific focus on engaging a specific cultural activity unique to this area. Our studio focuses on the hardware shops and artisans shops, exploring their activities and how these combine to make the streetscape of the area. The studio will use this idea of craft as a way into understanding the area through its material, commercial, construction and social life.
