Studio introduction:
Science fiction—across literature, video games, films, and TV series—serves as a powerful medium for imagining alternative worlds and offering fresh perspectives on our own. Fiction shapes how we perceive the world, influencing everything from political ideologies to daily routines to consumer behavior. This studio aims to push the boundaries of these imaginative depictions, leveraging fictional narratives to address societal challenges specific to Hong Kong.
Hong Kong, a city defined by its unique complexities, provides a compelling backdrop for the exploration. While its high density is often emphasized, the city also grapples with pressing issues such as climate change, an aging population, urban inequality, migration, environmental degradation, cultural preservation, and rapid technological transformation. The studio will look into meaningful interventions that address societal challenges by reimagining and elevating domestic habits/rituals through the framework of fictional narratives.
