The studio will investigate a row of façades on a Hong Kong street. With the façade as the proposed site of the investigation as well as the eventual design proposal, the street as well as the remaining building becomes the context in which the investigation is conducted. The studio encourages the student to choose a point of view in terms of how to regard the site and the surroundings. By comparing the differences in expression and connections to the context, a library of typologies is established: The façade as a membrane - The façade as a plane - The street as an image.
