Studio introduction:

On a typical morning, when passengers squeeze themselves into crowded subway cargos in Tokyo, the train's interior appears to reach its limits and creating reminiscence to the intense atmosphere as seen in Michael Wolf's photo series "Tokyo Compression". When looking compression purely at the word’s meaning, it is the action of squashing something into a smaller space or exerting pressure from different sides until it shrinks into a smaller state. We want to explore how this “Compression” affects people's happiness and well-being in Hong Kong. Even though Hong Kong as a city is wealthy, it's not ranking high on the happiness scale, stating that money is not everything. We're therefore challenge you future designers to think of ways to make life better for people residing in this compressed environment.
